Joest, a leading supplier of vibrating screens, particularly those used in treating the hard metal ores found in the Northern Cape, has traditionally always matched the screen design to the duty that the screen has to perform. In hard metal ore applications, this has resulted in very durable and long lasting machines which were application specific and not suited for generic light to medium duty applications found on modular plants and in typical washing and DMS plants. With this in mind, the company has launched a range of standard screens to match such applications under the name ‘SCREENTECH®’.
This is further divided into the MOD Series, which are unbalanced motor driven units from 610 to 3660 mm widths suitable for modular plant, and the PRO Series, which are exciter driven units in the range 2 440 to 4 270 mm suitable for process plants. Within each range, the units share a commonality of parts and completed units are assembled from stock as opposed to manufactured to order - resulting in more competitive pricing and shorter lead times. Furthermore all screen units are fitted with saddletop runners for better screen panel grip and mounting and longer runner wear life.
The PRO series exciter drives are now fitted with nylon idler gears which - apart from running 3 dBA quieter - result in the oil running at a 10 deg cooler operating temperature. This has the roll on effect of extending lubrication maintenance from 1-2 monthly intervals to 9-12 monthly intervals. Cooler operating temperatures translate into longer bearing life, a significant added benefit. A new development will be for end users to order SCREENTECH® spares online off the Joest website with easy ‘drop and drag visuals’ enabling real time order placement and immediate delivery.
